The Life Sciences/Biotechnoloy sector in Newfoundland and Labrador has special expertise in two areas: marine biotechnology and human genomics. There are abundant natural resourses in fisheries, aquaculture and marine organisms and a large-standing expertise in cold ocean environments. The origins and settlement patterns of the province's population proviide opportunities for world class studies in human genetics.
